Assesment & Promotion

Assessment & Promotions

New Dawn School

Assessment procedures are constantly reviewed to initiate a suitable approach to meet students need. Regular academic evaluation is the joint responsibility of the Headmistress/Headmaster with the staff. Unit tests and assignments are given regularly during each term and a certain number of marks are allotted for them. The First Term Assessment and the Final Assessment will be held in September and March respectively.

Eligibility for promotion at the end of the year will be based on attendance, continuous assessment in every subject, work done during the year and overall academic performance, As far as possible all are promoted. However, if the student demonstrates, through the above assessment, a lack of capacity to undertake the academic work of the next class and is not eligible for promotion to the next class, he or she, along with the guardian, will be counseled to allow the student to repeat the class so that his/her academic foundation is strong and the student is able to sit for the Board exam at the end of class X.

  • The Purpose of such evaluation is to help the teacher assess the effectiveness of her/his teaching as well as to help each student to grow in awareness to what she/he has learnt or not learnt with a view to her/his improvement.
